Believers are Selfish

On an occasion, I won a gold medal,

I banged my chest with glory,

An ego boosted in overdrive as

the crowd gave immeasurable praise,

I then stood on another occasion,

Again, I am on top above

everyone else,

Singing grabbing the hearts of the audience,

Singing hearts and glory that came from the flood,

Singing as they continued to the false blood,

Singing my way into the hall of fame,

“I am that of power, and things of joy I have

Claimed my spot in history with no one daring to challenge,”

On these same occasions, I saw them,

The loser who sulk came to me,

Eyes of regret but an admirable

Determination to be the best,

A smile not even worth the

Expression of precious gems,

But…

I wasn’t worthy enough,

Just mere stepping stones,

Pricking for a sense of humanity,

I keep going rising above with

Him having the unofficial status of king,

They weren’t worth enough,

God couldn’t even prick tears,

Soon those precious smiles and

The owners who have it died,

Eventually, they claimed their

ways into the hall of shame,

Which is why…

Believers are selfish,

I feel I did a decent job on this poem but their is still room for improvement. I will likely do a redraft that has a better rhyme scheme.
